Rangers beat Celtic to win the Co-operative Insurance Cup Final

The Old Firm clashed again today for the Co-operative Insurance Cup Final at Hampden, in a typically fast paced match.  Rangers took the win in a game that was fought for every second, including extra time at the end.

Rangers opening the scoring with a 20 yard strike from Steven Davis, but Celtic equalised shortly after.  Although the first half wasn’t Ranger’s best performance, they defended well and deserved to go into the second half with a goal to show for the first.

A big game for referee, Craig Thomson, who held his own and kept the otherwise hot-headed Old Firm rivals in check for most of the game – several yellow and one red card being produced in the process.

Rangers came into the second half fighting strong and dominated much of the opening minutes and were rewarded in extra time when a quickly taken free kick from Vladimir Weiss landed with Nikica Jelavic, who clipped it just past the range of Fraser Forster to give Rangers the winning goal.
