Big Mouth in the newsFamously, Big Mouth Media were banned from Google early 2006. Despite their ethical mantra, they lost all their Google rankings and were removed completely from Google's search index. Questioned on the subject, Big Mouth Media released a nonchalant statement, brushing off claims they were banned from Google, putting the results down to a minor update. However, the reality of the situation was that they had been using CSS to rotate keyword laden text on their homepage. A lot of it! As well as duplicate content. And spammy subdomains with autogenerated content. A few months after the ban, Matt Cutts was asked to comment on the situation and confirmed that Big Mouth Media were indeed banned from Google. It is particularly embarrassing for Big Mouth as not only were they caught spamming, but they were publicly outted for lying by a senior Google engineer. Good going for a "marketing" agency. Despite this monumental screw up, BMM still seem able to sell themselves to more big brand clients and award ceremonies.
